Dear Maple...
A Millcreek Story
Dear Maple,
Phoenix's pen hovered over the paper. Questions circled her thoughts in a panic fueled cyclone. How were they going to welcome new neighbors, when there were so many mysteries literally boiled into the foundation of this village.
Was the fog returning?
Would they be trapped again?
Would the rumors of death or frog be the option out?
The pen dug through the last word until the paper tore. She set it down before she could throw it.
She stood, chair scraping the office floorboards. She paced the length of the office, window to desk, desk to door, door to window again.
Bartelby appeared from nowhere, he was a portal puppy-cat, weaving figure-eights between her ankles until her third pass. It sent her down hard onto the floorboards.

He was already in her lap before she'd finished, kneading slow circles into her thighs. He had all the time in the world. Then he settled, and purred. The sound filled the room louder than any of her questions.
Phoenix looked over the lake, toward the empty Mayorial home. Who exactly was Maple & why had she not been around since the 1st week?
Perhaps it was time to find out?
