Maryellen! WOW, I think this is my favorite story you've ever done. Your writing is always amazing, but the way this story played with humor, worldbuilding, and existential themes was deeply profound and poetic all at once.
The way you went into such detail about the mental effects of living forever was extremely creative and made this feel like something that could happen (and if it did, this is exactly how it would play out).

loved how it plays with ambiguity, twisting a simple thought (ending) into something chilling. The way it unravels so naturally, only to leave you grasping at the conclusion—damn, that’s masterful! Mrs. Lingermore’s final lesson hit me like a whisper I wasn’t ready to hear...we all have to learn to let go. And I agree with EMR, LINGERMORE is so CLEVER!!
Oh my god this was brilliant. This needs to be READ MORE. God I loved the way you kept going back to Mrs. Lingermore and how society kept dealing with this crisis. Also — “lingermore,” is perfect. This was paced excellently and so well done. I love this one.
