Ooooh, that ending was incredible! Wow, I am such a fan of your horror stories. Your signature atmosphere and imagery is used to chilling effect here. The forest becomes a character of its own by the end, and it's positively haunting.
I'm talking about this story on today's podcast! Excited to discuss it.
Love this, Maryellen. I kind of want more of it, in a way, even though it's the perfect length. Would you ever consider expanding this story? It would make a great screenplay! 😁
EERY AS HELL. No, no this was more than dope. The trees cut down them instead. Slowly and through the inside out. The way you describe the disease, their bodies, all of it is fn done so WELL. Such a terrifying tale of venturing to deep into the wild. Love how you infer they turn to trees, amongst the ones that took their life. Lovely fn work here, one of my favorites from you — AGAIN
Trust me, it creeped me out as I wrote it. I had chills. But somehow I kept going, knowing that Cedar Heights is a ghost town for a reason. This is definitely a reason?!
Thank you for reading & cheering my twisted mind on….

I can't wait! Thank you.
I'm doing a happy dance with the girls.

Thank you!!! I'm definitely going to expand. This is the reason Cedar Heights is abandoned, in my larger world building.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
This is very cool to hear. I'm still trying to get a feel for your world building--I love the sense I get so far!
I love this, so much more scope for environmental horror. This works so well!
Thank you so much @Suswati Basu 💞

Yeah this was a super good horror story. The tale of Cedar heights makes sense on top of covering themes about Man V nature. Dope work
Setting the scene for the subscriber gift too. Cedar Heights is more that just a setting now 🙌
